January 20, 2013 marks the 20th anniversary of the death of British actress and icon Audrey Hepburn. With her gamine look, unlike that of the typical Hollywood beauty of the time, she became a role model for many women. Here are a few tips for imitating her timeless make-up techniques.

Doe eyes
Hepburn's eyes are perhaps the feature she was most known for. In this 12-minute video, make-up artist to the stars and Chanel collaborator Lisa Eldridge reveals the secrets of the look that become famous in films like "Roman Holiday" (1953) and "Breakfast at Tiffany's" (1961). The most important step (starting at 1:30) involves applying a eyeliner along your lashes and finishing with a flick at the edge of each eye. False lashes are applied, and flesh-toned pencil is used under the eyes to make them look bigger.

Natural, even complexion
Audrey Hepburn had an even, luminous complexion. For skin like hers, use a base that gives you a lightly powdered matte look. The Pixiwoo Sisters, two British sisters and professional makeup artists, show the final touches for getting a beautifully porcelain complexion, including pink blush, applied on the cheekbone.

Full lips
In the 1950s and 1960s, lips were lined to enhance fullness. To reproduce this part of Audrey Hepburn's look, Lisa Eldridge and the Pixiwoo Sisters line their lips in a shade that is almost identical to that used on the lips. In keeping with the color palettes of the time, choose pink or apricot. The British actress favored classic or satin-finish matte lipsticks over glossy textures. - AFP RELAX NEWS
