We all know the weather can play havoc with our skin.
But when the temperature drops, it’s actually our lips which are most at risk from the ravages of winter.
So why not kiss goodbye to dry, painful chapped lips with these top tips:
Protect:
Always apply lip balm before you leave the house in cold weather and you can also protect your face with a scarf.
Using a balm that contains natural oils and moisturising ingredients is the best and easiest way to treat and prevent lip damage.
Natural products such as almond oil and aloe vera soothe and nourish rough chapped lips. Why not try Burt's Bees Nourishing Lip Balm with Mango Butter which works to hydrate, soften and replenish your pout.
And don’t forget that one of the easiest ways to make sure you don't dry your lips out is to keep yourself hydrated throughout the day – so make sure you’re drinking plenty of water.
Buff:
Exfoliating your lips will remove the dead skin cells that make them look rough and dry.
Rub your lips gently with a toothbrush and a mild exfoliating product for a few minutes once a week. It is a great way to treat chapped lips or to prevent future damage.
Pucker up:
During the winter, make sure you opt for a moisture-rich lipstick that will keep your lips hydrated.
A good option is a Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm which combines a lip treatment and a sheer colour that relieves dry, cracked lips. Try Mighty Mimosa for a luscious glossy look. © Cover Media
