That’s exactly why it’s impossibly apt that French beauty brand Lancôme has tapped into Betty Boop’s popularity and collaborated with the icon to launch the latest Hypnôse Star Mascara.
The mascara is said to provide intense volume and curl to your lashes to create show-stopping eyes not unlike that of Boop’s. The dual-sided brush is also perfect for working wonders on your lashes – with the flat side providing just the right amount of product to generously coat lashes while the other tapered side is made to separate and lengthen the lashes while curling it at the same time.
The “black diamond” formulation also dresses up your lashes with a dark jet black hue, giving off a more intense look.

Betty, you are the spokesperson for the new Lancôme mascara "Hypnôse Star", alongside model Daria Werbowy. What does this mean for you?
It's an amazing adventure. I was 5 years old when Armand Petitjean founded Lancôme and I've admired the brand ever since. So, when they suggested that I should be spokesperson for the campaign – and with Daria no less – I was over the moon. It's a life-long dream come true!
You have been an icon for glamour since 1930. How do you define that status?
I'm flattered! In the beginning, I wasn't really aware of it. Then, I started to love playing this delightful game, as seduction is essentially, great fun! Yes, sometimes I play it up with my sequined mini-dress or my rose-adorned garter. It really suits my character – I just adore a sense of carefree lightness! It's nothing more than an enchanting little game.
How do you define glamour?
It's an attitude that you always carry with you, "a kind of lifestyle" as they say. I don't need much of an excuse to get glammed up. Even if I'm just going out for a walk, I wouldn't dream of leaving the house without makeup. Glamour is taking delight in looking good for yourself and for others, all the time.
You have simply stunning eyes. What's your secret?
It's simple. My eyes have been my fatal seduction weapon since 1967's Lancômatique, the brand's first ever mascara! I've been hooked on Lancôme eye makeup ever since. Over the years I've tried all of the brand's creations… and now I've experienced a preview of Hypnôse Star, I'm never going to let it go! It offers high-glamour volume that draws all eyes towards your own: I just love it! I've never felt like such a star with a simple flutter of my lashes!
What are your other beauty secrets?
Putting on makeup is a game: if you want to be seductive, make sure you have fun in front of the mirror. My most bewitching looks are the ones I've felt enthusiastic and daring about. Never forget: beauty is all about having fun!
Your ultimate beauty secret?
I always paint my lips in a heart shape: I wouldn't feel myself without that signature touch!
