Donna Karan SS13
The clothes may have been the main attraction but popping pink eyes grabbed the big glances at the Donna Karan Spring/Summer 13 show.

The loud and proud look had beauty watchers buzzing yet many were divided over whether pink is a particularly wearable look, off the runway.

“The pink eye trend was all over the shows,” says makeup artist extraordinaire Hayley Sparkes, who has glamorised countless A-list beauties.

“It's only natural to feel a bit apprehensive about trying out this look yourself but as long as you pick the right shade for you, pink is a surprising wearable.

“Look for baby and pastel pinks to create a soft ethereal look that will add a subtle highlight to your eye lids if you don't want to be too daring.

“If the colours wash you out go for something with more vibrancy or play it really safe with a salmon shade that will suit most skin tones,” she adds.

Here are Hayley’s picks for creating the look.

Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush in Rose D’Or
If you prefer not to invest in new eye shadows you can simply use a blush instead. The Bourjois little round blush pots are ideal.

Dior Chérie Bow Palette
If you feel that pink all over the eyes is too intense for you, break up the pink shadow with a mixture of grey shadow and black eye liner. This gorgeous Dior palette contains everything you need to create this look.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil
Fuchsia or magenta shades really make a statement on the eyes. A bright pink eyeliner used around the top and bottom of the eye really works. I love this glide on eye pencil in Woodstock from Urban Decay.

MUA Mascara Shade 7 Hot Pink
To recreate eyes that are straight off the catwalk finish off with a bright pink mascara. MUA bright pink mascara is brilliantly affordable too. © Cover Media/ Photo: Showbit
