Ditch dull hair with these revival tipsWant to ditch dull hair once and for all?

There are plenty of methods for reviving limp and lacklustre locks – but what is the best way to see fast results?

We caught up with multi award-winning hairdresser Darren Ambrose from D&J Ambrose Salon to find out just that.

Here are Darren’s tips for boosting worn out tresses.

Pamper:

“Visit your salon for a half-hour pamper,” says Darren, who has styled the locks of countless stars.

“A Wella SP Alchemy bespoke treatment will address whatever your hair needs to get it back on track, whether it’s shine, volume, lustre or smoothing.

“Do it once a month to ensure proper gloss coating and protection for your hair to avoid future lacklustre locks."

Prevent
“Keep your scalp fresh to prevent hair becoming flat and lifeless,” advises Darren.

“A clarifying shampoo will help, and don’t have the water too hot when washing your hair. If the water is too hot the sebum in the glands will become over-active.

“If you have fine hair lots of B vitamins will really boost your hairs strength and health."

Polish
“Ask for a Gloss Service with Wella Relights, this takes five minutes and puts pure shine into the hair, which lasts eight to 12 washes,” Darren says.

“Think of it like a clear nail topcoat, it locks in shine on coloured or virgin hair.

“For shine, don’t overload the hair, use a little mousse or blow dry lotion to create your style, then a gloss serum or something like Cellophane by Sebastian, it’s surface shine in a bottle.”

Protect
“Heat damage from styling appliances can be a major cause of dullness through drying the hair out. Use a leave in product to protect hair each time you heat style,” he recommends.

Pretty
“There are some great styles around this season that have great texture and movement for fine hair; graduated and softly layered shapes will add volume and shape and make you feel better about your hair too.

“Using foiled highlights to create a sun kissed effect makes for a very natural look in turn making the hair appear thicker and creating more depth,” Darren adds.
