It’s the talk of the town and fashionistas simply can’t enough of the Chanel Cruise 2013-14 collection show that was held at the Loewen Cluster, Dempsey, last night.
While the collection paid homage to the days of British colonialism with preppy knits, cricket-inspired sportswear in tones of black, white and the odd navy blue, it’s interesting to note that the beauty looks of the night went with a bright blue hue instead.
The striking blues on the models provided the night’s only real pop of colour, which thankfully, added a touch of fun and irreverent edge to the looks.
Think two-toned elongated eyes lined with black kohl on the upper lash line coupled with the bright blue kohl on the lower lash line.
Peter Phillips putting his finishing touches on a model.
Peter Phillips, the ex-creative director of Chanel makeup (who still works on Chanel runway shows), who created the look went with the Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-lasting Eyeliner in black on the upper part of the eye for more definition, and the same eyeliner in blue on the lower part of the eye for that strong bold pop of colour.
He wanted to place emphasis on the eyes, lining it from the inner corners of the eyes and extending it all the way past the ends.
The focus on the eyes meant that he kept all other areas clean and simple, with just a coral blush on the cheeks and nude lip balm on the lips.
Want to go bold and draw attention to your eyes? Try this look out at home and line your eyes with two different tones. Remember to keep the rest of your face clean and simple.
