Spring/Summer 2013 is all about bold beauty and nothing screams summer like a playful pink pout. Remember to prime skin with a sheer foundation to give you a natural glow against your rockin' lip, and use a light reflecting pen to conceal under-eye shadows and plump up your pout by directing light to the lower lip area. Here, we reveal the hottest shades for summer.
Fuchsia
Almost any skin tone is flattered by fuchsia, and if you really want to make lips pop, reach for an ultra-bold shade like the gorgeously creamy Maybelline Fuchsia Flash. Resist the urge to add a coat of gloss. As we saw in the Spring/Summer 2013 shows, it's all about matte lips this season - Pat McGrath at Prada, Lucia Pieroni at Giles and Wendy Rowe at Burberry Prorsum all opted for bright, velvety shades that popped amidst otherwise pared-back beauty looks.
Bubblegum pink
Shelved during winter in favour of Rihanna-esque reds, bubblegum pink is finally back in season. MAC Cosmetics Raspberry Swirl gets our vote for best new shade; it has opaque colour coverage, and the consistency is creamy enough that the lipstick simply glides across the lips. This kind of shade can have the effect of pulling the yellow out of your pearly whites, so if you've been meaning to get your teeth whitened, there's no better time.
Nude pink
Nude lips have transcended from a trend to a beauty classic. Originally applied to downplay dramatic eye make-up, they are now considered a style statement of their own. A milky pink-toned product like Topshop's Saint adds a hint of summer playfulness to your look; but with a shade this subtle it's important to moisturise lips and apply a coat of foundation underneath before adding your lip colour. - © Cover Media
