There's nothing like a good ol' fancy night out at the races to commemorate a day as important as the first visit by Queen Elizabeth II to the Bukit Timah Racecourse back in 1972.
This year was no different as the day was celebrated with the prestigious annual Queen Elizabeth II Cup race held on April 26, 2013.
Aside from an exciting horse race where guests got to watch up-and-coming horses compete for a slice of the $350,000 prize money; the event – dubbed the first Ladies' Night of the Year – also focused on pampering the ladies with a myriad of services.
Guests turned up at the club dressed to the nines complete with fancy headgear and enjoyed the races along with a sumptuous buffet dinner and drinks. Marquee activities like manicure and henna services, belly dancing performances and costume minglers dressed in Victorian garb were also on hand to treat and entertain the guests.
Models dressed in Victorian costumes picked out those with the best-looking hats for entry into the "Best Hat on Tracks" contest; the winner walked away with $500 in gift vouchers from the Johor Premium Outlet, a bottle of Moet & Chandon Champagne and a sash!
What's more, the first 1,000 ladies to arrive also scored an exclusive luggage tag. The Lady Luck Draw was also a highlight of the event with three prizes worth a total of up to $2,500, including Johor Premium Gift Vouchers.
Besides being thoroughly entertained and showered with indulgences, the guests also got to witness the winning horse, Better Life, run away with the victory alongside VIPs like Ms Judith Slater, Deputy Head of Mission, British High Commission.
With a night of prestige, glamour and pampering activities, we're sure Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth – a known lover of horse-racing – would have been proud if she had been here.
