Handy must-know makeup tips for the perfect selfie
Article:

Whether you want to wow your pals on Facebook or cause a stir on Instagram - everyone needs a good profile picture.

From saucy snaps of Rihanna to pouting pics of Kim Kardashian, it’s fair to say that celebrities are becoming "selfie" obsessed too.

So why not take inspiration from the A-List and give your social profile a glamorous overhaul.

But what’s the best way to ensure your selfie is suitably smouldering?

We caught up with celebrity make-up artist and acclaimed photographer Natasha Worby to find out her tips and tricks for creating the best photo-ready look.

“In order to make your profile picture stand out you’ll need to enhance your best features,” says Natasha, who has glamorised a whole host of stars.

Here are Natasha’s make-up tips for the ultimate close-up.

Lips:
If you have luscious full lips then you can definitely be bold and go for a fun colour. Red is always a failsafe choice, so just choose the right shade for you. Some reds are more orange in tone, some are more pink and others bluer. Find out what undertones are in your skin and choose a red to compliment that.

If you’re feeling bold, why not opt for Spring/Summer 13’s bright electric pink lip. For a more subtle effect you can use it as a stain rather than full-on lipstick by blotting with tissue.

Eyes:
A sultry smokey eye always works well but this doesn't have to mean black eye makeup, you can get creative with it. Use a nice plum colour if you have green eyes to really make them pop. For those with brown eyes then you can’t go wrong with rich bronze and gold.

Meanwhile, blue eyes really stand out against bronze, peach, plum and lilac - plus silver can have outstanding effects when used on the inner corner. Use your preferred eyeliner and lashings of mascara, or if you’re looking to add drama, false lashes are also a must. Just make sure they’re applied properly, trimmed to the size of the eye and not too over the top.

Finally, don't forget to groom your brows and ensure they are perfect too, they make the world of difference.

Skin:
When it comes to foundation, the best advice is to really look at your skin and even talk to a professional about your skin type. There is no point putting an oil-based foundation on a person who has oily skin. No amount of setting will keep it looking fabulous and it’s the same with dry skin - don't opt for drier textures as it will just enhance the dryness in the skin.

I love professional brand RCMA, Kryolan, Make Up Forever and MAC Matchmaster and Face & Body. I usually contour using foundations, one base colour, one a few shades darker and one a few shades lighter than the base. Fake Bake do a fabulous bronzer that, when used sparingly and built up accordingly, works on all skin tones.

For highlighting, Benefit have great highlighters to suit all skin tones, as do NARS and recently I was introduced to a fabulous light golden highlighter for Topshop. - © Cover Media
