One is a true-blue American denim brand while the other is a British emporium known for its cutting edge fabrics. As a result of their collaboration, the Levi’s X Liberty London line is the perfect marriage of iconic fits and fabrics.
The design team at Levi’s has pulled out silhouettes from the brand’s archives like their iconic denim shorts as well as Trucker vest and interpreted them to reflect today’s trends. Two exclusive Liberty prints were also rolled out from the Liberty fabric design studio for the collaboration.
The inspiration for the print Carlin (named after the Levi’s designer Jenny Carlin who worked on the collection) came from a vintage Liberty print from the ’70s. The original was redrawn with watercolour pencils to create colourful garden flowers.
The second print Kerr Bandana - also inspired by a’40s archive print – is both floral and Pointillist (a painting technique in which small, distinct dots are applied in patterns to form an image). The pattern is applied onto the denim material with an innovative laser technique for an unique twist on the patterned jean.
The Levi’s X Liberty London collection is definitely the perfect match of American cool and British whimsy – girlie with a tomboy edge.
