Dynamique Des Femmes Juristes by Hi-Sim Studios

After the star-studded Chime for Change concert in June that saw music powerhouses like Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez raising support for the empowerment of women, fashion house Gucci continues its global campaign by launching a platform for original short films.

Stories about courageous girls and women around the world are told through a series of short films with the aim to raise global awareness.

“We will shine a spotlight on those who are fighting for education, health and justice for girls and women by sharing stories about real people who are speaking out and rising up to change the course of history,” said Salma Hayek Pinault, executive producer of the Chime For Change film unit. “These films tell intimate, personal stories – but these stories represent universal themes. And now we can all play a part by turning inspiration into action.”

The storytelling platform also extends to journalistic content as Mariane Pearl, managing editor of Chime for Change, has assembled a team of international journalists who will document the plight of girls and women around the world suffering because of their gender and also their fight to be heard.

Using the power of narrative and storytelling to create a global network, Chime for Change hopes girls and women worldwide will be able to connect and learn from each other’s stories through this platform.

Sepideh: Letters To Einstein directed by Berit Madsen

The first five short films released illustrate some critical issues faced by females around the world and focus on real life stories connected to the three pillars of Chime for Change – education, health and justice. The films include Sepideh: Letters To Einstein directed by Berit Madsen about Sepideh, a young Iranian astronomer who dares to pursue her dream of becoming an astronaut despite societal pressures and familial obligations; and Dynamique Des Femmes Juristes by Hi-Sim Studios, an animated film about a group of female lawyers in eastern Congo fighting for women’s rights.

The films are available to view and download at www.chimeforchange.org and www.youtube.com/chimeforchange.
