The Italian luxury label will guest star at the upcoming Tokyo fashion week later this autumn.
Tokyo Fashion Week, which is set to take place October 14 to 18 this year, will be welcoming one of European fashion's biggest names.
The Missoni show, held in the hall of the mixed-use Shibuya Hikarie building on October 14, will kick off six days of fashion shows by 32 designers including Facetasm, Johan Ku, Matohu, Ne-Net and Motonari Ono.
Designer Angela Missoni will be present and the show will combine the women's Spring-Summer 2014 looks, which will be shown (as usual) in Milan in September and the men's Spring-Summer 2014 collection that was revealed during the menswear shows June this year.
It's not been an easy year for the Italian family business. Vittorio Missoni, the CEO of the company disappeared with five others off the Venezuelan coast in January this year, and this news was followed by the death of the label's founder Ottavio Missoni in May. The brand will be hoping its Asian adventure can round off its annus horribilis on a more positive note.
Parisian labels Dior and Chanel have shown resort collections in Asia for a number of seasons, while fellow Italian brand Moschino elected to show a combined menswear and womenswear show this June in China to celebrate its 30th anniversary. -
