Long-time supporters of Jurlique would have grown up using the Australian natural skincare brand’s pioneering calming salve, the Herbal Recovery Gel.
This year, Jurlique has expanded the range with an Advanced Serum, in a bid to woo a new generation of beauty obsessives raised on the new skincare staple of the Noughties – the serum.
Skincare 101: For those who need a refresher, serums are post-cleansing and toning treatments designed to saturate the skin with active ingredients before being layered over with a fuller textured moisturiser.
A true serum in the sense that it lends itself well to layering, Jurlique's Herbal Recovery Advanced Serum was a pleasure to use, and, best of all, didn’t cause our regular moisturiser to pill and flake.
Smooth application aside, this serum contains the brand's “Naturadiance PB18+ complex”, essentially a blend of herbs and active agents suspended in a watery base.
Some standout stars in this curated cocktail include the traditional Chinese medicinal berry Wu-Zhu-Yu, said to jumpstart dermal microcirculation, and tried-and-true skin smoothers like niacinamide, an anti-acne and anti-wrinkle agent.
Texture-wise, the serum is slightly viscous, somewhat like a gel, with a pleasantly faint floral finish. A little goes a long way – just one and a half pumps was enough to cover our entire face and décolletage.
Skin-conscious users will also be pleased to know what this serum comes without – pore-clogging parabens, PEGs, silicones, propylene, butylene glycol, formaldehyde releasers or artificial colours and scents.
Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Serum, $117 for 30ml and $234 for 100ml, is available at Robinsons Raffles City, TANGS VivoCity, escentials@TANGS Orchard, and all Jurlique Day Spas.
