It’s the hair type we all lust over - shiny, bouncy and beautiful.
But unless you have a live-in hairstylist on call every morning, your best bet to achieve this look is to head straight to a blowout bar and have a professional tend to your tresses.
If you live in New York the option has been available for years.
In 2005, three friends opened a blowout bar where getting your hair styled is as easy as getting a manicure.
The success was immediate and by the end of its first year, Blow had served over 10,000 customers.
And beauty entrepreneurs were quick to follow in their footsteps. Today, blow-dry bars can be found all over the US and in Asia too.
However, not all of us have the time and the means to head off to the salon every week to get the frizz and curls tamed.
“You can give yourself a good blowout, too,” says Jennifer Denton, one of the founders of Blow.
“We have created products that bring the Blow experience into your home. Our brand BlowPro is created to deliver better blow-dry results.”
Denton stresses the fact that in a good blowout, every strand of hair has to be completely dry before moving on to the next.
When in the shower, be sure to protect hair from moisture using a shower cap. One of the most important products in the Blow range is the heat-protective primer Heat Is On, a spray that detangles hair and eliminates breakage.
“We call it liquid oxygen and use gallons of it every day in the salon,” says Denton.
The Blowpro best-seller is the blow-dry lotion Ready Set Blow, a product packed with micro heat conductors that cuts drying time in half.
“Less is more and we recommend a dime size of the product as a little goes a long way.”
For the past year customers at Blow have asked for bouncy hair with movement, a style that is still popular but now is evolving.
“Hair has been very Gossip Girl-driven, with beachy, sexy, Victoria’s Secret hair. Now you can see it getting toned down. Customers are looking for a looser wave. And it’s hard to tell what comes next, but I am thinking the 80s feathered hair will have a come-back.” © Cover Media
