Godfrey Gao gives good face. Speaking to us in a hushed cabin at the swanky Seviin spa at Tangs Orchard, the SK-II ambassador's matinee idol mug was enviably clear up close, an asset he attributes to cleansing at least thrice a day.
Other stray observations about the genetically blessed beau of the hour: The strapping stallion has massive hands. He also subsists on Red Bull; we're told his handlers requested for cartons of the caffeinated stuff before his scheduled appearance at the light-up of the SK-II Christmas tree outside Tangs Orchard.
Godfrey may require his energy drink fix more than ever, what with him breaking into Hollywood with this year's film adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. A bona fide heartthrob in the region, Godfrey is a stud best spoken of in superlatives: For starters, he was the first Asian man every in Louis Vuitton's 159 years to front a campaign for the French Maison in 2011.
Besides shaking up the erstwhile racial homogeneity of the men's fashion industry, Godfrey's also broken the stereotype of the short Chinese guy: The Canadian-Taiwanese is a dizzying, runway-worthy 1.93m tall (we declined to take a picture with him for fear of appearing like a dwarf, a decision we may regret forever).
For ladies out there who're up for a height challenge, the lanky lad says you have to jump through many hoops before passing his partner test. Godfrey's a "very picky person" when it comes to girlfriends – but hold your horses, he's not being snooty. The surprisingly softspoken swain says he's very shy and needs to be around someone he's comfortable with (all together now: Aww).
