The extended version of the teaser spot for The Avengers that ran during the Super Bowl champion game, February 5, shows new footage not released in the previous trailer.
The spot features the Marvel superheroes, assembled by Nick Fury of the international agency S.H.I.E.L.D. to save the world from Loki, the villain. He tells his team "We are outgunned," as explosions destroy Manhattan.
The stars of the film shown include Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man/Tony Stark, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America/Steve Rogers, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye/Clint Barton, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk/Bruce Banner as well as Samuel L. Jackson, Gwyneth Paltrow and Paul Bettany.
Tom Hiddleston (Thor, War Horse, Midnight in Paris), who plays Loki, warns Tony Stark that he has an army. Stark responds, "We have The Hulk."
The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), hits theaters in Europe April 25-27, followed by May 1-4 releases in Russia, North America, India and the rest of the world.
