For those who love their legs, Raoul’s Spring Summer 2014 collection will be their go-to wardrobe for the new season.

Short skirts, shorts and shifts dominate the collection that was launched at New York Fashion Week. While the pieces might expose the legs up to the mid thighs, heavier materials like textured jacquard makes sure that the shape is decidedly A-line – a Sixties style favourite – hence, legs appear longer.
For those who prefer not to show off their legs, the collection’s easy jumpsuits and maxi dresses are equally wearable, yet will not fade into the background thanks to the bright colours and geometric prints adopted throughout.

The “Ben Nicolson” print – named about the British artist who was the inspiration – has the same clean feel reflected in Nicolson’s geometric and abstract art. Combined with strong colours, the overall effect is sporty. Similar linear prints like the “Wave” print add to the mod vibe of the pieces. Other prints are more abstract – similar to another British artist Bridget Riley’s Op Art work – for instance the “Static” print mimicks the static display on an analog TV display.
Cut outs also feature on the hems of leather skirts and shell tops – inspired by Nicolson’s ex wife Barbara Hepworth’s pierced sculptures to create an airy vision. The same concept follows for the footwear – transparent pieces are juxtaposed with skinny straps so much of the foot is on display.
