A still from “Crystals and the Postman are a Girl’s Best Friend”
Stepford Wives go campy in a fun romp for the short fashion film “Crystals and the Postman are a Girl’s Best Friend”, the product of a joint effort between Sister by Sibling, Swarovski and famed photographer Ellen von Unwerth.
The London label is part of the Swarovski Collective for Spring Summer 2014 – an initiative focused on supporting emerging designers in exploring the creative boundaries of crystal craftsmanship by offering financial and product support during fashion week and throughout the season.
Looks from the Sister by Sibling Spring Summer 2014 runway show
Sister by Sibling’s Spring Summer 2014 collection is a colourful, cheeky parade of ’50s knit sweater sets and housecoats that hails back to the era when housewives went about the house dressed up to the nines and with perfectly set hair. The film takes place in an authentic 1950s house and depicts twin models Ruth and May Bell preparing for a party in sexy pencil skirts and elegant dresses from the collection.
Ruth, or is it May, prepares for the party in the short film
The twins aren’t only adorned with Swarovski crystal neon matte pearls, maxi crystal triangles and squares and sparkling rosettes drip off the pieces while they busy themselves with vacuuming, baking and flirting with the postman. Von Unwerth channels the short film’s American Tupperware party theme in humourous, I Love Lucy style – with girly slapstick action and drama.
