The legendary shoe designer Manolo Blahnik showed off his Autumn Winter 2014 collection in the Big Apple.
Manolo Blahnik is an old hand when it comes to the world of fashion, but this was his New York fashion week debut. The Spanish-born designer has been based in London since 1968 and has never before shown on the other side of the Atlantic. The new collection was unveiled at an event at the Paul Kasmin Gallery in the city, with a select list of guests getting the first look at the colourful luxury footwear, featuring Blahnik's trademark stiletto heels.
Attendees were also treated to projections of specially commissioned films directed by fashion illustrator, journalist and photographer Michael Roberts. The first was "Walk With Me: A Victorian Ghost Story," which features Edie Campbell's younger sister Olympia as a well-heeled 19th-century lady. The second, titled "Manolo Blahnik at Work," shows the great man at work in the studio in his white coat, shaping lasts, picking materials and crafting his famous heels.
