The looks: All the models had the same sleek comb-overs referencing both the mod ’60s and futuristic helmet heads. Perhaps they were meant to represent female robots who would form the future A Wang fashion tribe? The first half of the collection featured a Wall Street meets Twiggy outtake with smart, structured mini sweater dresses. The multitude of pockets - to keep your mobile phone and other necessities – added an utilitarian element. Who wouldn’t want to travel light the Alexander Wang way? The outfits were boardroom-appropriate and every model was buttoned up all the way and layered under turtlenecks, collared shirts and cravat (neckband) kept the neck completely covered. In case they got stuck in a blizzard on their lunch break.
Sportswear inspiration kicked in with chunky ski sweaters and parkas – all with huge collars – with the following runway looks. The models were ready to brave any Polar Vortex or artic expedition with shearling details and textured leather. Neon zippers, unfinished hems and a rainbow ski scenery print were also spotted. The better to remain visible in a snowstorm!

The highlight of the entire show had to be the 12 models who stood, still as statues, on a revolving portion of the runway. The pillars actually released gushes of hot air to demonstrate the heat-activated colour-changing material as the final looks changed from black to purple, yellow, green and more. This show stopping finale proves that Wang always has one eye on the future.

The accessories: Wang must have watched one cricket match too many as his knee-high boots sported shin guard lookalikes, all ready to wrestle any wild animals the models might come across in the wild. The bags seen were also utilitarian with loads of pockets and even a holder for a hot-water flask!
