Base makeup with skin-loving benefits are a dime a dozen these days, but we’re particularly taken with this new powder offering from SK-II, which ticks all the right boxes in our beauty books.
Let us count the ways. First, the skin science. SK-II says the good folks from its R&D division have zoomed in, so to speak, on what makes skin look good on film: Translucent faces boast a “more balanced colour gradation” than their more blotchy counterparts.
To adjust the settings of your complexion’s colour balance, SK-II says its 21st century alchemists have conjured up something called Lavender-Gold powder, a very luxurious sounding ingredient indeed that’s made by encapsulating lilac pigments with light-bouncing nanoparticles (no actual gold involved, more’s the pity).
The formula has also been processed “wet” for a softer glide, as well as infused with the brand’s legendary yeast-based pitera. A complex composed of a rice bran derivative, vitamins C and E serve as a moisture magnet for a supremely satiny finish.
Finally, UV-ray phobics will be reassured to know that this medium-coverage powder foundation also comes with a perfectly adequate SPF25/PA+++ rating – good enough for you to skip sunscreen if you’re indoors. This being SK-II, expect the eight shades on offer to be as Asian-friendly as they come.
SK-II Powder Foundation, price unavailable, will be on all SK-II counters from April 2014. For more information, visit www.sk-ii.com.sg and follow SK-II Singapore on Facebook and YouTube.
