It pays to have famous friends. Just ask Nigo. The new creative director of Japanese clothing giant Uniqlo has made a big splash with the announcement of a UT collaboration with Pharrell Williams.
This isn’t the first time Nigo and the musician have joined forces. Their friendship goes way back to 2005 when Nigo, the founder of A Bathing Ape, and Williams created streetwear brand Billionaire Boys Club.
The Spring Summer 2014 UT collection will include a line in collaboration with Williams’ “I am Other” creative collective. Besides men’s and women’s T-shirts in the updated New Model T design, the collaboration will also include a Williams’ style essential – caps. Maybe even a special hat? We can only hope.
Williams also stars in the collection’s campaign images, with model Barbara Palvin on his arm, and a commercial that will also feature a song from his new album G I R L – looking really “Happy” (sorry we couldn’t resist).
What we want to know is, will Williams be able to talk Nigo into working together to create a suit-and-bermudas collection, ala his recent Oscars look?
The I am Other Uniqlo UT Spring Summer 2014 collection will be available in Singapore Uniqlo stores from early May. For more information, go to www.uniqlo.com/sg/. Follow the brand on Facebook at www.facebook.com/uniqlo.sg.
