As French fashion house Chloe would have it, a rose by any other name would most certainly not smell as sweet. Meet the rosa centifolia, a rare bloom used in a new facial mask that’s said to bestow beautifully soft, petal-plump skin
Article:

One of the fondest food memories we have of our gallivanting days post-university was an hour spent in a postcard-worthy cafe, sequestered away in the sun-drenched heart of Ankara, biting into intensely heady, deliciously squishy squares of Turkish delight.

You know, we’ve always gravitated towards grandiose displays of ardour: There’s nothing that gets us more weak-kneed and googly-eyed than being presented with posies and posies of pastel roses …

Really, all of this nostalgic preamble is to say that we adore roses in any way, shape or form, and that therefore Chloe’s intriguing new Centifolia Rose Hydrating Mask is virtually guaranteed pride of place on our vanity top.

Here’s why. For starters, this new skin treat comes replete with a press release that’s redolent with ridiculously compelling copy.

To wit, the particular rose used in this mask is, according to the fancy folks at Chloe, carefully hand-plucked by “glove-handed pickers” in the Grasse region of France, with the harvest commencing “at the first light of dawn”.

Why should we give two hoots about the provenance of the rosa centifolia? Well, Chloe says the petals from this fragrant flower are incredibly rich in “good” sugars that act as moisture magnets for your skin, and are also exceptionally effective at sopping up “bad” free radicals. The creamy elixir is also chock-full of comforting botanical oils that are naturally rich in essential fatty acids.

To use, scoop up a generous dollop of the cream – ask your Chloe counter staff if the accompanying brushes are available in Singapore; last we checked, the tools were on their way to town! – and smother your face and decolletage with a thin layer.

Kick back your kitten heels, relax for 10 minutes, then tissue off the excess. The result? Chloe promises a velvety visage that’s beautifully primed for bed. A perfumed rose mask that’s exquisitely packaged, good for your skin and smells like Turkish delight with none of the calories? We’ll take two, please.

Chloe Centifolia Rose Hydrating Mask, $110 for 50 ml, is available exclusively at Robinsons Orchard. For more information, visit www.chloe.com and www.robinsons.com.sg. You can follow the brand on Facebook.
