We were very excited to hear that Biotherm developed the Blue Smart Digital Skin Reader. Used by Biotherm advisors at its counters, the company’s new invention promises to give you an in-depth analysis of your skin. It does this by evaluating eight different areas - hydration, sebum, pores, melanin, acne, wrinkles, redness, and elasticity - and comparing your skin’s condition to what it optimally should be.
For example, instead of guessing whether your newly bought whitening product is working, Biotherm claims that the Blue Smart will analyse melanin levels in your skin - and even tell you if you should have bought a hydrating serum instead.
So how does it actually work? To analyse each category, the device gently presses a camera-like sensor onto your skin, and in seconds the screen pops up with a range of easy-to-read values. If you want the most comprehensive results, you will need to repeat this step eight times - one step for each category. This takes a bit of time (and patience!), and the entire scan takes an average of ten to fifteen minutes to complete.
What we love, however, is the fact that this nifty product takes into account your gender, age group, and skin concerns. The device also differentiates between Caucasian and Asian skin, so you know that your results aren’t being compared to someone of a totally different skin type. At the end of the skin analysis, Blue Smart tells you your skin’s current condition, as well as recommends a range of Biotherm products that will address them.
So if you’re feeling like you need some evidence-based substantiation on your Biotherm visit, Blue Smart could do it for you.
