There was a time in my life when I was doctor-hopping. You see, I wasn’t born with the best of skins. My skin was a pimple farm for almost all of my teenage life, and acne creams and off-the-shelf cleansers just seem to make my face worst.
After what seemed like a million years, my mother decided it was best to send me to the doctor. Even then, I had to go through rounds of antibiotics and different treatments (and needless to say, doctors) before my skin saw the light of day. Since then, I’ve sworn that for certain conditions you can only trust the experts.
Obviously not everyone is the cream of the crop, and different doctors have their own specialities. With that in mind, if you’re trusting someone to put a needle into your face ━ you need to trust only the best. So I risked my face and went on a round of consultations with some of the best in the business, to give you an idea of what it is like to have a consultation with them, and what I feel they are best for.
To make it a fair review, I basically told each doctor the same story: Clogged pores (blackheads, whiteheads, and what have you) are my main problems. I’ve had severe acne since young and was on Accutane for one year, but my face has now cleared up;I still get the occasional pimples. Regarding my skin type, it gets a little tricky: I’ve had oily skin my whole life, but after a studying stint overseas, my skin is now dry on the surface and very oily inside. Find out what each doctor had to say, and how I felt during the consultations:
