Ariana Grande thinks people should take selfies when they're feeling better about themselves than usual. The 21-year-old singer is prominent on pages such as Instagram and Twitter, and regularly updates followers on her life. But surprisingly, Ariana gets annoyed by how other people approach social networking.
“Everybody makes up these ridiculous captions for their selfies that have nothing to do with the picture, like ‘Layin’ in bed on Saturday.’ It’s like, No, you are not! You just spent an hour getting ready for this picture!" she fumed to Seventeen magazine. "We all post a selfie for the same reason - because we feel better about ourselves than usual. So just be like, 'Hey, I feel good about myself today, so here’s a picture!'”
Ariana has grown up in the spotlight having been part of Nickelodeon show Victorious from the age of 17. For the star it was difficult to evolve and change in front of a public audience.
"It’s tough to spend some of the most important years of your life in front of so many strangers who want to pick you apart," she explained. "Insecurity has been the hardest thing I’ve had to overcome. I think everyone my age struggles with that because everyone strives for approval and wants to feel loved.”
Ariana went on to star in spin-off show Sam & Cat but it was recently cancelled after only one series. However it's not all bad news for the brunette beauty as she has just had a massive hit single with her song, Problem. It means Ariana has grown in confidence, but at the same time, she still has moments of doubt.
"Everybody has certain things that make them feel insecure. Even when you overcome a huge battle in your life and you make a ton of progress as a person, there are still things that will upset you and break your heart," she added. "But I feel like I'm at a point in my life where love is the most important thing, and I won't let anything come before it."
