Designer Ralph Lauren’s personal efforts in the fight against cancer started more than 20 years ago, inspiring him to start the Pink Pony campaign as part of his eponymous label.
In 2000, Ralph Lauren redesigned the classic Polo Pony icon especially for the Pink Pony campaign and sent a bevy of models clad in Pink Pony shirts down the runway. Representing the brand’s global initiative in the fight against breast cancer, the Pink Pony fund has supported programs for cancer screening, early diagnosis, treatment, research and patient navigation for all types of cancer, including breast cancer, since the launch of the Pink Pony Campaign.
For this year’s Pink Pony Campaign, Polo Ralph Lauren has released its Pink Pony 2014 collection to support the fight against breast cancer. The assortment of clothing in the collection include the brand’s iconic polo mesh, long sleeve and short sleeve t-shirts, sweatpants and hoodies, all of which are emblazoned with the Pink Polo Pony icon.
The brand’s signature bag (toted by many a celeb) – a Soft Ricky 27 – will also feature in the collection as a limited Pink Pony edition, available for purchase in selected Ralph Lauren boutiques worldwide. According to the brand, 25 percent and 50 percent of proceeds from the sale of Pink Pony apparel and the Pink Pony Soft Ricky 27 respectively will be donated to the Breast Cancer Foundation in Singapore.
