The one huge collaboration that sees H&M teaming up with a big designer has become an annual event on the fashion calendar. There’s always a great unveil; followed by a blow out party – this year’s shebang transformed the Armory on the Hudson in New York city into an indoor track and field stadium and stars like Dakota Fanning were in attendance; and finally long queues of shoppers waiting to grab their favourite designer pieces at a steal.
The latest highly anticipated Alexander Wang x H&M collaboration is no difference. Not only will fans of the designer be able to own a piece of his signature sporty chic style for less, the designer wants them to get great mileage out of the versatile collection by sporting them on the street, for workouts and when out clubbing.
In fact, the H&M collab sees Wang’s debut performance wear pieces that incorporate performance details like quick-dry materials and compression technology for too-cool-for-school gym outfits. Apparently, there are pieces with a hidden message that only shows up when you sweat in them.
Among the 38 piece ready-to-wear women pieces, we spot sports bras with Alexander Wang logo on the elastic bands (move over Calvin Klein); a sexy curve-hugging scuba dress; patchworked panelled leggings that will replace our trusty leather skinnies and a scuba cropped sweatshirt with “Wang” emblazoned across the chest.
We round up the Alexander Wang x H&M pieces we will be queuing up for on November 6, 2014 – if our editor will approve our leave.
The Alexander Wang X H&M collection will launch on November 6, 2014, at 8am at H&M Orchard Building and H&M ION Orchard. For more information, go to www.hm.com/sg/ and wangxhmlive.hm.com/.
