Stella McCartney may be one of Britain’s most famous fashion designers but she insists she is “pretty low maintenance.”
The 40-year-old daughter of former Beatles star Sir Paul McCartney is worlds apart from the typical image-obsessed fashion star. Although she loves clothes other aspects of her life are more important.
“Look, I am not one of those designers who is locked away in an ivory tower. I have four kids and a husband, and I wear the clothes. That helps,” she told Style magazine.
Stella, who is close friends with Madonna, recently graced London Fashion Week with a quirky fashion show where models mingled with guests and danced on tables.
Her show was one of Fashion Week’s biggest highlights but on the whole she thinks her brand reflects her low-key personality.
“I think part of the charm of the brand is that I am definitely not pretending to be something I’m not,” she explained.
Aside from her label, the fashion designer insists she has no plans to have any more children as she already has enough with four under the age of seven. It was recently claimed that Stella was considering adding to her brood.
“No more! I packed them in my 30s,” she said.
“My 40s is gonna be about... I dunno. But no more kids.”
The London-based designer, who is the creative director of director of the Adidas 2012 Olympic Team GB range, added she has her hands full with work and feels her brand is moving in the right direction.
