Recently, I’ve started using bar soap and it hasn’t been an easy transition; dropping the soap is not funny. In a span of two days, the fragrant bar of argan oil soap I was so eager to use was already a soggy, deformed and dented mess.
Bar soap also doesn’t lather up very well. Plus, gripping it tightly and washing your body bit by bit was way too time consuming.
Anyway, I promptly gave up after dropping my soap countless times and spending too long in the shower. Thankfully, I get my best ideas in the shower and thanks to that, I’m now a very happy bar soap lover. Why?
The answer, are these!
Yes, I’m well aware that these look a little like something a serial killer would wear, but bear in mind the benefits! Here are some reasons that might convince you to make the switch:
1. They lather up any kind of soap really easily – both bar and liquid soaps!
2. You don’t need a lot of soap to get a lot of foam, which means you use less and save money in the long run
3. They have enough traction so you don’t drop your bar soap (very important)
4. It’s easy to get to areas like your back since you don’t have to hold anything
5. You exfoliate at the same time, which means it helps with
(a) shaving and
(b) absorbing moisturisers & creams afterwards
6. It’s cheaper than buying exfoliating scrubs
7. One pair lasts you at least six months
Sounds really good, right?
Getting a pair is really easy too, you can get cheap exfoliating mitts and gloves for just two dollars at your nearest Daiso, or for people who like something a bit less rough, Watsons, Guardians and many other places offer good options too.
But before you get too scrub-happy, bear in mind that scrubbing too hard or everyday could lead to thin skin, so try to limit it to 3 times a week. We don’t advocate using these on your face either!
Wet your gloves, and lather up on your soap before scrubbing from the neck down. Bonus tip: use a super moisturising soap for best results. Buff a little more on scaly areas like your shins, knees, elbows and armpits. Afterwards, simply rinse, dry, moisturise and you’ll be on your way to having beautiful smooth skin.
Happy scrubbing!
