Katy Perry is “too over-the-top” with her styling choices at times, admits her make-up artist.
The stunning songstress is currently sporting bold blue locks and has experimented with other colours in the past, including pink, blonde, black and purple.
Katy has been spotted at Paris Fashion Week recently with a seemingly toned down beauty look.
The star’s long time make-up artist Jake Bailey has explained the reasoning behind Katy’s ever-changing look.
“Katy is evolving. I think she’s only begun to tap the surface of all the different looks she’s going to do in her career. When it comes to her music videos and performances, she has more fun than anyone else. That’s her show,” Jake told Style.com.
“She likes to be over-the-top, maybe too much at times, but this is Fashion Week and she is respectful of the designers and she wants to represent.”
Katy attended the Viktor & Rolf Fall/Winter 12 show at Paris Fashion Week at the weekend. The 27-year-old singer donned an electric blue trench coat, teamed with matching blue heels. Jake says the pair took advantage of the relaxed style boundaries at the designer label’s show.
“For Viktor & Rolf, we actually didn’t tone it down,” he said.
“They are such imaginative designers, and I thought the shift that she wore had a very ‘60 look, so we went with a very ‘60s mod eye using Yves Saint Laurent’s Gel Eyeliner in black, which I set with a loose powder to give it extra staying powder.”
Katy looked more demure at Yves Saint Laurent’s show this week. Jake explained the idea behind the chic style.
“We both saw this as an opportunity to do something different,” he said of the make-up, which was meant to be “strong but chic without too much colour.”
