Why so serious, Cecilia? Image: Wikipedia Commons
Yup, calling it right now: She’s definitely dating the dude.
Who: Cecilia Cheung, of Celia-and-Nic Tse infamy. What: Her increasingly obvious dalliance with one mystery magnate.
Here’s the “where” bit of the equation: Just this week, Cecilia was caught canoodling with said rich guy, Chinese billionaire film producer Sun Donghai, at a snazzy dining joint, right here in sunny Singapore.
There’s even photographic proof courtesy of an eagle-eyed fan, who snapped the couple chowing down on their nosh and promptly sent the shots to Hong Kong gossip rag Ming Pao Daily News.
To Cecilia’s credit, several starstruck supporters say the thespian was perfectly pleasant to fans who deigned to disrupt her dinner, even pausing to pose for #wefies with anyone who cared to ask for one.
The dossier on Cecilia’s new billionaire beau (he’s 47, she’s 34) is tantalisingly scant, although the businessman is said to come from a moneyed bloodline, and has dabbled in just about everything entertainment-related: Fashion, film, tech, television … in short, Donghai’s a damn good catch.

Now for the intriguing implications. Hong Kong culture vultures will no doubt be aware that this burgeoning relationship really started to ramp up in the past few months; Cecilia has been spotted at Donghai’s massive Beijing mansion, for one, and the swain has even been seen out and about with Cecilia’s two sons sired by Nicholas Tse, looking for all the world like a surrogate father figure.
Here’s the kicker. Catty commentators in the blogosphere have proffered the possibility that this very public carrying-on may be an indirect response to the revelation that her ex Nicholas Tse is now officially back with his ex, Mandopop queen Faye Wong. Could this be some sort of tit-for-tat one-upmanship on Cecilia’s part …?
Then there are the commercial considerations for the woman, whom some have taken to referring to rather unkindly as “box office poison”. I mean, Donghai is a top-tier film tycoon. #JustSaying!
