WHAT: The DRx Cryo-Rejuvenation Therapy procedure is all about getting the benefits of active serum ingredients deep into the dermal layer of the skin so that they start working immediately.
This treatment uses established technology like “iontophoresis” – a non-invasive technique using a low-powered electrical impulse – to “push” serum ingredients into your skin, after having a series of miniscule needles to penetrate the top layers of the skin.
The serum itself is probably the most important part of the procedure as it contains proven effective ingredients like stem cell extracts, polypeptides (including argireline), idebenone, tranexamic acid, arbutin, vitamin C and hyaluronic acid to assist in whitening your skin, relieving fine lines and helping to tighten-up the upper dermis.
A special handpiece is used to deliver the iontophoretic energy via a super-cool function, the “cryo” of the procedure’s name. The cooling effect means you get reduced redness and swelling which are common side effects of these sorts of treatments.
The DRx Cryo-Rejuvenation Therapy is available from the DRx Clinic, Tong Building (next to Paragon Shopping Centre), Level 16, 302 Orchard Road. Tel: 6733 1555, Open Monday to Friday, 10am to 8pm; Saturday, 10am to 5pm. Go to www.drxclinic.com for more information.
REVIEW: The DRx Cryo-Rejuvenation Therapy procedure is almost entirely painless; particularly if you have a reasonable pain threshold. For me it was basically as soothing as a facial.
You need to turn up for your appointment around 40 minutes or so earlier so that you can have numbing cream applied to your face, just in case you are sensitive to pain. I’d also recommend not wearing makeup, but if you’re coming straight from work a therapist will take it all off for you.
However according to the doctors at DRx Clinic, there are actually some women who don’t use the cream at all.
After “pressing” your face in a designated order with a handpiece that consists of hundreds of miniscule needles to open up “ports” into the lower layers of your skin, the serum with all its magical ingredients is massaged into your face with the special super-cool handpiece.
This is actually quite relaxing, and with the numbing cream applied you won’t even feel the cold that much; although it is cold so be prepared if tend to be sensitive.
After about 40 minutes or so and some time to allow the excess serum to be absorbed, sunscreen is applied and you’re ready to go.
Results? My skin certainly felt smoother and more “plump” after the treatment; I couldn’t see any major changes in “whitening” but the “brightening” part was clear the following day. For an improved whitening result, you really need to have around four or five sessions says the clinic.
For women who are scared of more invasive procedures or laser treatments, this is definitely the way to go. According to Dr. Nicholas Ngui, one of the principle doctors at the clinic, the treatment is particularly effective for those with inherited skin discolouration when used over a long period of time, especially if you don’t like pain.
