They’re flamboyant, they’re opulent and above all they’re fun.
And thanks to trendsetting stars like Katy Perry, Nicky Minaj and Lady Gaga, ostentatious fantasy lashes have taken the fashion world by storm too.
We saw them grace the lash lines of many a runway model last season.
The bold faux-lash played up models’ features, at the same time making that all-important dramatic statement.
And for Spring/Summer 12, false lashes are making an even stronger statement.
While models at Viktor & Rolf had pointed, Barbie pink lashes, Dolce & Gabbana and Louis Vuitton opted to put heavy 1960s exaggerated falsies on their models.
Here are three handy tips if you intend to recreate the crazy lash look at home.
1. If you buy a full set, trim the fake lash to the right length before applying it. Individual clusters are great for filling out your own sparse ones.
2. For easy application, place a hand mirror on the table/sink in front of you and look at yourself from above through slanted eyes. That way, you can look at yourself while still keeping eyes almost closed, which makes sliding on eyelashes easier.
3. Be sure to let the eyelash glue dry for half a minute before applying them to your lash line. Eyelash glue becomes invisible when dry. You can still tidy up the lash line by applying eyeliner on top. Some suggests using black eyelash adhesive makes the faux-lash look even more natural. © Cover Media
