Lily Cole
She was recently unveiled as the global face of The Body Shop.

And even if Lily Cole is some years younger than the 36-year-old beauty brand, she can still remember the first product she bought.

“There was a Body Shop next to my school and we used to love White Musk Perfume,” the 23-year-old revealed to Cover Media.

“These days I love the chocolate body butter,” she adds. “I love the fact it’s calorie free chocolate that not only smells amazing but also makes your skin feel amazing.”

Ravishing redhead Lily might be most famous for modelling and acting, but she’s also well known for supporting a variety of humanitarian and environmental causes.

Alongside her work for The Body Shop, the beauty is also an ally for Western Shoshone, an environmental organisation which specialises in work to halt gold and diamond mining.

And she has good advice for young girls who want to engage with ethical business.

“It’s the small steps you can make in everyday life to be more aware,” she says.

“I am a big believer in responsible business and you vote with your money, so if you know a company is good and transparent about people in the production being treated well, that’s what you should support.”

Lily – who last year graduated from Cambridge University with a double first class degree - also revealed that she always tries to buy organic food or local products.

“Buying has a powerful force. And I also believe in being open to paying a little bit more for high quality, well-sourced products.”

About her new role as a global ambassador for The Body Shop’s new campaign Beauty With Heart, she says: “I really care about the planet, I think our planet is precious.

“If you look into space you can go for millions and millions light years and not find any place that is habitable like this, and we have to respect that and protect it and make sure our children and grandchildren have a planet to take on.”

So, aside from doing her bit to save the world, what are Lily’s plans for the future?

“I’m hoping to do some more films,” she reveals. “I have a new film, The Moth Diaries, coming out in April and Snow White is released in June.

“And I’m working on a project in a social media space right know that is like my personal project. I can’t tell you much more, I am not talking about it yet. Look at www.impossible.com.” © Cover Media
