A new trailer was released April 24 for the crime drama Lawless, directed by John Hillcoat (The Road, The Proposition) and featuring Tom Hardy (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Shia LaBeouf (Transformers) and Jason Clarke (Public Enemies) as the Bondurant brothers, Depression-era bootleggers in Virginia. A US contender for the Palme d'Or at next month's Cannes Festival, the film is based on true events and takes its inspiration from the 2008 novel The Wettest County in the World by Matt Bondurant, a descendant of the infamous brothers.
Gary Oldman (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) plays gangster Floyd Banner, while Guy Pearce, who has worked with Hillcoat on The Road and The Proposition, portrays a sadistic special agent. Mia Wasikowska and Jessica Chastain round out the cast.
Lawless is due for release beginning in August.
