As animated characters continue to inspire the beauty world, retro cartoon character Betty Boop stars opposite supermodel Daria Werbowy in a new mini film from French beauty giant Lancôme.
"Just say it with the eyes," Boop advises Werbowy, who plays a rising star in need of some advice in the adorable video to promote new mascara Hypnôse Star, which is inspired by the glamour of 1930s movies.
Directed by French comic artist Joann Sfar, who has directed films Gainsbourg: Un Vie Heroique and The Rabbi's Cat, the video makes a nod to the increasing trend for animated commercials -- earlier this year Guerlain teamed up with French artists Olivier Kuntzel and Florence Deygas for an animated advertising campaign bringing the classic little black dress to life in honour of reworked fragrance La Petite Robe Noire.
Boop, who made her first cartoon appearance in 1930, follows in the footsteps of other animated characters to have enticed the beauty world including Minnie Mouse, inspiration for a recent OPI nail polish line, and Wonder Woman, the muse behind MAC's Wonder Woman collection for Spring 2011.
