Art Speaks @ ARCHIFEST 2012
Organised by Art Stage Singapore, this fringe event will introduce contemporary artists and their inspiring projects to the public. This talk focuses on art and the urban landscape, encouraging citizens to reassess public spaces and the society, personal and public areas and Singapore as a whole. Art Speaks presents two Asian artists to share their projects - Michael Lee and Sherman Ong.

Taking a cue from Avalon Hollywood's legendary parties into the afterlife, Avaland presents the biggest Halloween night in town, Zombiepalooza! Once dusk arrives this Halloween horror night, Avalon takes a life on its own, unleashing casualties of a zombie apocalypse. Thread carefully as the walking dead now dominates the entire area, wreaking terror and devouring every living thing that flashes by with hazardous zombie bites. Hold your breath and stand still if a zombie approaches - and it just might let you walk free.

Shirin Neshat: Games of Desire
Enter the world of Shirin Neshat, the New York-based artist of Iranian descent, in her first solo exhibition in Southeast Asia, where her transcultural works gives voice to women all around the world and where women are independent, strong and opinionated. Using installations and photographic works from her Games of Desires series, Neshat sheds lights on the life of elderly Laotian women, living under a mitigation of tradition in a globalised world.

Nothing like Chucky or Barbie, undead funerary dolls and pale porcelain beauties lurk in the shadows, waiting to steal your soul when you’re sleeping. Lifelike wax Victorian dolls and cast away Haitian voodoo dolls invite you in for a mysteriously enchanting night. And if they favour you as best dressed, a pair of tickets will take you to a faraway country where the dolls play freely.

Thai Transience
Just how much do we know about Thailand apart from Tom Yum and mangoes? As part of the Thai CulturalFest and organised by the National Heritage Board, SAM hosts Thai Transience, an exhibition showcasing over 50 works from Thai contemporary artists. Guest-curated by Professor Apinan Poshyananda, Thai artists show how they continue to create new expressions responding to their heritage and faith.
