Chomp Chomp Food Centre has come up tops for the second year running as Singaporeans' favourite hawker centre in the City Hawker Food Hunt.
The Serangoon Gardens facility has 36 stalls that sell mainly seafood. The 97 tables are usually filled from the time it opens at 5pm to when it closes at 1.30am.
Ms Jennifer Tan, who runs a drinks stall, said customers come because the centre has a reputation for good food. "We want to attract more good food stalls to set up in Chomp Chomp. Our focus is on bringing in food for sharing," said Ms Tan, who is in her 40s.
The search was also on for the best nasi briyani, fishball noodles, lor mee and vegetarian food. Haji K. Abdul Rehumaan Muslim Food in Bukit Merah Lane came up tops in the nasi-briyani category, also winners are 135 Fishball Noodle in Toa Payoh Lorong 1, Xuan Miao Vegetarian in Circuit Road and Xing Qing Teochew Lor Mee in Golden Mile Food Centre.
The City Hawker Food Hunt is organised by City Gas and Chinese evening newspaper Shin Min Daily News.
