Russian violinist Alina Ibragimova collaborates with the SSO under Lan Shui in Tchaikovsky’s ever-popular Violin Concerto in this all-Russian programme.
Last heard at the SSO in 1998, Shostakovich’s Eleventh Symphony was a musical depiction of the social and political unrest which constituted the 1905 Russian Revolution, and won for the composer the Lenin Prize a year after its 1957 premiere.
