Bourjois has revealed another highlight of its year-long 150th anniversary celebration. This time, the cosmetics brand is re-releasing one of its heritage bestsellers: Poudre de riz de Java, or Java rice powder. The collector’s edition powder will be available starting in August.
Launched at the end of the 19th century, Bourjois's Java rice powder was first offered in four shades corresponding with the style of the period: White, Pink, Natural and Rachel.
The loose powder quickly became a popular favorite, with some 2.5 million units sold around the world in 1914.
Collector's re-release
The brand's very first bestseller is taking center stage in the 150th anniversary celebration. Going by the name "Souvenir de la Poudre de Riz de Java" (Memory of Java rice powder), this limited edition comes in a retro cylindrical box resembling the original packaging.
Inside, the loose powder has been reformulated using the latest developments in cosmetics for a velvety finish, a pearly sheen and a slightly blushing glow.
Bourjois's "Souvenir de la Poudre de Riz de Java" illuminating powder, $19, will be available from September at all Bourjois counters in Singapore.
