Eve Thomas, styling director of theoutnet.com, dishes out tips on how to dress for the Singapore Grand Prix – from the race track, outdoor concerts to the glam parties
Article:

The Singapore Grand Prix is one of the biggest events to take place on our sunny island each year. Along with the fast cars, glitz and glamour synonymous with the night race, the hottest acts that head down to Singapore to perform makes this weekend one an exciting one.

So the big question is how does one dress for a day at the Singapore Grand Prix? We went to the fashion experts at designer online outlet theoutnet.com to find out how to put together an outfit that will take you from grandstand to concert mosh pit and finally a glamorous party to hobnob with the beautiful people.

Eve Thomas, the styling director of theoutnet.com, recommends versatile textured fabrics: “Textured fabrics such as lace, silk and brocade and statement prints will ensure you can work an outfit both for day and night. If you mix rich textures such as lace, brocade and metallic bouclé for day you won’t need to accessorise with jewellry. Complete your look with sunglasses and flats sandals” she says.

This satin and brocade Victoria, Victoria Beckham dress will keep you cool when you are rooting for your favourite F1 driver in afternoon heat at the qualifying races. Jackie O Yves Saint Laurent sunnies will keep the sun’s glare away from your eyes when watching the qualifiers while playful polka-dotted Marni leather sandals are the right footwear to jump up and down in at the Big Bang and The Killers concerts.

“I always suggest carrying an oversized bag such so you have somewhere to store your night time accessories – a great pair of heels and an embellished clutch,” says Thomas.

Practicality can be stylish – this laser-cut Alaia tote is a great example. The roomy tote will hold everything you need during the day from your sunblock to bottle of water. Plus there’s room too for these awesome Alexander Wang snake-leather wedges and pretty embellished Valentino clutch that will transform any outfit into Amber Lounge worthy.

For the woman that wants to look glam from day to night, Thomas suggests, “Styling is all about proportions. A great look that will carry you from day to night is a classic Hervé Leger bandage skirt in tonal shades styled with a voluminous top. This outfit will work with flats and heels – add a statement necklace (the bigger, the better) for night time glamour.”

On Thomas’ advice, we picked out this Herve Leger Ombré bandage mini skirt and Alice + Olivia cut-out batwing silk-chiffon top that will keep you both cool and chic during the excitement of the night race. Slip into these gorgeous Alaia embellished leather boots and accessorise with this Miu Miu crystal cameo necklace for the after party.
