Repetto, the French shoemaker most famous for its ballerina slippers, has announced that it will be opening three flagship stores in Southeast Asia.
Malaysia and Thailand will also have their own Repetto stores in by November 2013 and February 2014, respectively, that will carry the footwear, bags and accessories ranges. But However the Singapore store at Ion Orchard will also stock the brand’s ready-to-wear collection.
The bag, ballerina-inspired flat and ready-to-wear collections will be available at the Repetto Ion Orchard store
We won’t have to wait long before the entire range of Repetto ballerina-inspired flats, dance shoes, leather bags, accessories and womenswear will be available in Singapore. We are also curious to know whether the interior of the Singapore flagship will resemble the 22 Rue de la Paix boutique in Paris – will there be an entire wall dedicated to pointe shoes?
Repetto ballerina shoes are a firm favourite with everyone from A-list celebrities like Kate Moss to former French first lady Carla Bruni. Brigitte Bardot first requested Rose Repetto to create for a dedicated ballerina shoe for her in 1956.
Repetto, who created her first ballet shoes in 1947, gave the shoe a lower cut and removed the stiff toe cup – used to protect ballerinas’ feet – when creating the casual daily-wear “slipper”. That particular shoe, the “Cendrillon”, was worn publicly by Bardot and catapulted the ballerina style shoe into popularity. The rest, as they say, is history.
What sets a pair of Repettos apart from the rest of the ballet flats out there is the brand’s expertise in creating the most technically advanced shoe products in the world of dance. This knowledge ensures that each shoe’s creation, assembly and the material used are perfectly suited to protecting a dancer’s feet while providing comfort and support.
The Repetto flagship store will open on Level 3, Ion Orchard in November 2013. For more about Repetto, go to www.repetto.com. Follow the brand on Facebook at www.facebook.com/repettoparis and on Twitter @Repetto_Paris
