Burberry Spring Summer 2014 campaign features a young British cast

As Burberry’s creative director, Christopher Bailey has a gift of spotting the next big thing. He did cherry pick Cara Delevingne to star in the British fashion house’s Spring Summer 2011 campaign just right before the British model’s popularity blew up. Edie Campbell – crowned 2013’s “Model of the Year” at the recent British Fashion Award – and a cheeky Romeo Beckham were also photographed for Spring Summer 2013.

Not surprisingly, Bailey also selected an entire British cast for Burberry’s latest campaign. The seven fresh-faced actor, musician and models made easy work showing off the easy soft trenches and lace pastel dresses in their youthful, insouciance air. Last seen in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, actor and musician Jamie Campbell Bower, is simply devil-may-care sexy even in a pastel pink jacket. Leo Dobson – the lead singer of indie rock band Childhood – also put his boyish looks to good use.

For most of the five models, this isn’t the first time they are coming into contact with the Spring Summer 2014 collection. Malaika Firth, Matilda Lowther, Neelam Johanl and Callum Ball walked in the Burberry Prorsum shows for the same season. Firth tops her great 2013 with this gig, after scoring a Prada campaign (the only second black model to do so after Naomi Campell) and earning her Victoria’s Secret Angel wings. Johanl made history as the very first model of Indian descent to star in a Burberry campaign. Although the baby of the group in age and experience, we don’t think this is the last we will see of model Jean Campbell who is the daughter of a former Vogue UK fashion editor.
