The Golden Globe Awards took place in Beverly Hills on January 13, 2013 and celebrities pulled out both classic and original looks for the red carpet parade of frocks. We round up of the key trends seen.

Strapless & bodices

Jessica Chastain appeared in a Givenchy strapless dress, custom made by the brand's designer Riccardo Tisci. The subtle black detailing and simple shape allowed her to pull off a giant diamond necklace.

Zoe Saldana looked stunning in a dress from the Prabal Gurung Spring Summer 2014 collection. This one also featured a shape-defining moulded bodice and mixed black and pink with Swarovski crystal details.

The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence wore a strapless Christian Dior haute couture gown - her outfit lacked a bodice but used interesting black ribbon straps to tie the material around the body.

Florals

German born TV-host and model Heidi Klum appeared at the awards in a black and white floral creation by Marchesa.

A pregnant Drew Barrymore added some color to the occasion with a Monique Lhuillier Spring Summer 2014 dress, which was covered in red, pink, white and orange floral detailing.

One of the hosts for the night, comedian and actress Tina Fey wore a Pre-Fall 2014 dress by Carolina Herrera. Featuring a red and black floral print the look also played with the shoulderless trend.

Colour block

American Hustle star Amy Adams wore a Valentino couture gown. We loved the red with a separate burgundy coloured halterneck section, giving the look a 1970s vibe.

Sandra Bullock also mixed colours in blocks of pink, black and blue. Her Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2014 outfit was complemented with a side-parted pony tail.

Emma Watson mixed things up for fashion fans with a backless Christian Dior couture gown in solid red with a pair of black trousers underneath, creating a colour-block effect with two pieces.

Lupita Nyong'o also went with a slightly more daring choice. The 12 Years a Slave star wore an impactful red Ralph Lauren mixing the off-the-shoulder and color block trends, and adding a sartorial twist with the cape detail. - AFP RELAXNEWS
