Virtual-makeover technology provider ModiFace will reveal its updated 2012 platform next Thursday with the introduction of a computer-generated beauty adviser.
Launched in 2006, ModiFace offers virtual makeover technology for websites across the globe including Harpers Bazaar and Marie Claire as well as beauty brands such as Stila Cosmetics. It is a leader in the field along with firms such as EZface, whose clients include L’Oreal Paris, Maybelline and Cover Girl.
WWD reports February 6 that the new platform will allow consumers to consider how they would look with new makeup shades or after certain plastic surgery procedures by uploading their photo -- all the while being advised by a computer-generated beauty adviser.
"Our past technology has allowed for consumers to try out their products virtually before purchasing them," ModiFace chief executive officer Parham Aarabi told the publication. "What's been missing is having someone there for help and advice."
Powered by artificial intelligence collected from over 5,000 user conversations, the virtual beauty consultant will be able to provide instant advice after consumers type in their beauty questions.
The updates to the ModiFace platform follow the launch of fashion and beauty site StyleUnited back in November. Visitors to StyleUnited, a partnership between Procter & Gamble Beauty & Grooming and fashion website ShopStyle, can talk directly to beauty consultants via webcam if they want cosmetic tips. Meanwhile, brands such as Clinique currently offer beauty consultations via online questionnaires. --AFP RELAXNEWS
