The deep purple polish glimpsed fleetingly above is from the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Nars collection, slated for an August release
Mark your cosmetic calendars for August 2014, and do it now. When we first heard rumblings from fellow industry observers about a forthcoming beauty biggie, we chalked the rumours up to an onset of fashion fever brought on by one too many live-streaming marathons from the Lincoln Center runways.
As it turns out, they were right after all. A quick check with the lovely Nars rep in Singapore later, we can now confirm that the achingly cool beauty brand will be exchanging creative spit with Phillip Lim – a match made in backstage heaven, really, given that Nars face painter Francelle Daly and her glam squad were the geniuses behind the polished faces of 3.1 Phillip Lim’s Autumn Winter 2014 presentation.
The 3.1 Phillip Lim for Nars collection doesn’t include base or point makeup palettes, more’s the pity, but what you can look forward to come August this year is an exquisite nine-piece “wardrobe” for your nails that’s formaldehyde-, DBP-, and toluene-free; read our handy primer on polish pollutants if you need a refresher course on toxin-related terminology.
No word yet on pricing availability or, indeed, colour swatches, but we’ve been told that Nars pulled a fast one on us – at least one shade (a deliciously dark aubergine) from the upcoming limited edition nail polish collection was used on the girls walking the aforementioned Autumn 2014 show.
This can only mean one thing: An excuse to rewatch the show with all eyes on the models’ manicures. Oh, and while you’re at it, see our makeup video tutorial starring the sensational Nars Bourdin collection – as good an introduction as any to the provocative, party-appropriate aesthetic of the “fashionable” beauty brand!
