What do you get when a well-loved high street brand collides with a sportswear giant? An explosively stylish collection, of course!
The Topshop design team has ransacked the Adidas Original archives for this Spring Summer 2014 capsule collection. The result of the collaboration? Adidas classics re-imagined with an urban edge.
The iconic Adidas three stripes and trefoil logo has been injected with prints replicating the urban London landscape – a shout out to Topshop’s hometown – and graffiti graphics. Cat prints, which have been extremely popular with customers of the high street brand also make a kitschy surprise appearance with a scattering of cute heart motifs.
These pieces are no boring gym clothing – lightweight tricot and silky ultrafine cupro fabric add a luxe texture to hoodies while vests and t-shirts feature printed mesh and colour blocked panels.
The collection skips out on the classic Adidas baggy trackpants (a la Missy Elliot) by replacing these with pants of a slimmer fit that’s perfect for both the gym and the street.
Plus, what’s an Adidas Originals collaboration without sneakers? Topshop reinvents three top adidas styles: the Superstar, the Tech Super and the high cut Attitude have been reworked with leather, contrast thread details and the same fun graphics seen on the clothing pieces.
We are pretty sure that loyal fans of the sportswear brand and Topshop will fall in love with these edgier interpretations of classic pieces and expect these limited edition run to be snapped up in a heartbeat. So the question is, will the 20-piece capsule collection see a continuation in the next season too?
