This year’s Chanel haute couture show, which was staged in a Chanel plane, saw a fashion collection which included 150 variations of blue shades.
Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, Peter Philips, then translated Karl Lagerfeld’s vision into a harmonious beauty collection –Blue Illusion. “For the Spring Summer 2012 haute couture show I chose to focus on the eyes and to add a touch of pearl on the nails. The brief was: blue!”, shares Philips.
The exclusive Blue Illusion makeup collection, which will be available in July 2012, was inspired by the label’s haute couture show which saw models come down the runway with aquamarine eyes and pearlescent nails.
For on-trend eyes this season, opt for the aqua look when lining your eyes, instead of the usual smokey eyes. “Instead of black kohl, I created a blue-khol” says Philips.
The Creative Director of Chanel Makeup also revealed some details on the upcoming Blue Illusion collection and how you can recreate the look, “Blue Aérien is a new intense blue eye pencil that I applied to contour the eyes. I created two new llusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadows. The shade Apparition is an intense, greyish blue that I applied on top of the eye pencil, fading out towards the outer corner of the eye, and Destination is a pale, silvery satin blue that I used on the inner corner of the eye and very moderately under the eyebrow. I finished the look with Mascara Inimitable Intense Mascara in Black and a deep blue line in the eye with Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil in Marine”
