Roll with it

Miranda Kerr with rollers in her hair
It’s official – rollers are the most stylish way to achieve bouncy voluminous locks.

Well, that’s according to fashion bible Vogue, which this month declared the humble roller a hair styling must-have.

And who are we to argue? The cylindrical stylers are just the job for creating soft waves to cascading curls.

Here’s how to get the best from your heated rollers.

1. The key to working with heated rollers is to ensure the hair isn't too soft and silky. So, rather than shampooing, prep hair with a dry shampoo to add lots of texture.

2. Having allowed the rollers to heat up for about six or seven minutes, starting at the front, take a section about one inch back from the hairline. Lift the section of hair up and spray gently with a firm hold hairspray. This allows any flyaway hair to grip the roller.

3. Using the largest roller, roll down from the ends to the roots. With every set of heated rollers you should get a special set of pins or clamps to grip the roller to the head.

4. Start from the front and work back towards the crown area, then continue down the side of the head and finish at the back.

5. Once all the rollers are in place, give another light coating of hairspray and leave to cool for approximately ten minutes.

6. Once completely dry, gently remove the rollers from the head and shake the hair out with your fingers. © Cover Media
